Sri Lanka, the tropical island in the Indian Ocean, has been renowned for its exquisite beauty of the nature as well as the people ,from the time immemorial. It’s oftentimes considered a haven that fosters ethnic and religious diversity harmony.
Known by the different names such as “Taprobane”, “Serendib”, and “Ceylon” at different phases in the history, Sri Lanka proudly claims one of the greatest and proud histories since  the time of the first human civilizations. Its civilization has been based on three key factors: tank, paddy fields and temple. Its written history can be traced back to the 5th century BC,and the proof of the ancient heritage is to be found all over the island. Sri Lanka is a site ingenious skills in architecture and irrigation technology that oftentimes baffle the modern day scientists. 

The abundance in natural beauty is part and parcel of the identity of Sri Lanka. The diversity of geography shape of the country is most significant fact.

The hill-country is surrounded by expanses of low land, and lustrous sandy beaches together with the amazing coral reefs  are main focus of attraction for tourists all over the world. The hill coountry showcases hundreds of n\breathtakingly alluring waterfalls. The highest mountain,Piduruthalagala is 8,281 feet high in elevation. The waterfalls give birth to host of magnificent rivers of which Mahaweli is the longest with 206 miles.
 Sri Lanka  has two weather zone: wet zone and dry zone that result in some of the most stunning differences in landscapes.Tropical rain forests claim some of the salient features of natural beauty and considerable amount of species of the unique flora and fauna.

Naval trade routes between east Europe and the far-east were stretched in the Indian ocean closer to Sri Lanka.This is the one of main reason for the three European nations: the Portuguese (1796-1658),the Dutch (1656-1796)  and the English (1796-1948) to invade and occupy Sri Lanka.They left Sri Lanka leaving behind many traces of their identify.

Sri Lanka is diverse in so many amazing ways. to call it as  the “ Miraculous island in the Indian Ocean”

Sigiriya



Sigiriaya is the most significant isolated, world renowned ancient rock fortress and palace in Sri Lanka which is declared as a world heritage by UNESCO. According to the historical fact, it is believed that this amazing architectural wonder was built in 5th century by king Kashyapa.
Sigiriya is located in north central province in Sri Lanka.
After the reign of King Kahsyapa, Sigiriya was abandoned for many centuries until the British man Major Jonathan Forbes  found this miraculous historical place in 1831. Following the extensive excavation and exploration by Archeologist H.C.P. Bell in 1890s, many scholars and architects make profound study on Sigiriya.
World famous Sigiriya is consisted with extraordinary architectural elements like Mirror Wall, Garden and 05th century frescoes. Even this modern time many scholars get wonder by seeing this well planed historical palace.


Kandy



Kandy was the last kingdom of Sri Lanka, located in the middle of the country, 116 km away from Colombo Capital. Kandy is a world famous city because of the temple, Sri Dalada Maligaya, where located the Tooth Relic of Buddha. Sri Dalada Perahera, the distinctive religious cultural pageant of Sri Lankan which conducts every year is consisted with variety of Sri Lankan dances. Instead of that Kandy is the city that remains most valuable historical monuments belong to English period.


Galle Fort  


Dutch was the second European invaded and occupied (1656–1796) the country for 140 years. After overthrow of Dutch by British they left the country but they have been kept their signs every corner of this island. Among the Remaining monuments of Dutch, Galle is the most remarkable place to see Dutch heritage. Galle fort is declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site that is encompassed variety of Dutch monuments. It is significant that there are numerous Dutch signs to be seen as a result of Dutch influence on our country.

Anuradhapura


Anuradhapuray is considered as Sri Lanka's first Kingdom which existed for nearly 1400 years until South Indian invations.                
According to  the Mahavamsa, The great Chronicle, Anuradhapura period was begun in 380 BC.

This great ancient city is fulfilled with excellent ancient architectures and magnificent stone carvings.

Polonnaruwa

Pollonnaruwa  is one of golden period of Sri Lankan history. There are hundreds of historical monuments that make marvelous feelings in everyone visiting this historical kingdom. It’s famous “Gal Vihara “shows the unique skills of ancient Sri Lankan in stone carving. Polonnaruwa kigdom was lasted for nearly two centuries (1029-1212 AD) this remarkable ancient city has been declared a World heritage site by UNESCO.
